FAQ

ICAF Hub Singapore is a community arts festival and a physical gathering of international community arts practitioners in Singapore.

This festival aims to carve out a space for community arts practitioners committed to socially-engaged arts practices from different cities to come together, and through the festival to showcase diversity of arts-based practices, build networks, seed collaborations and partnerships for the community arts sector. We want to deepen impact through the convergence of ideas and practice to benefit diverse communities the artists and groups serve.

ICAF Hub Singapore is a partnership between ICAF (The Netherlands) and Drama Box (Singapore) to develop and support a global, community arts Hub in Singapore. This is the first ICAF Hub outside Rotterdam.

ICAF Hub Singapore: The Gathering is designed for community arts practitioners – whether you have been practising for decades or just starting out, or anywhere in between. Our programmes are designed to focus on mutual learning. We always have something to learn from the experience and perspective of others’ practices within their unique contexts.

We also welcome students interested in the field and professionals interested in the intersection of community arts and their sphere of work.

ICAF Hub Singapore is also a platform designed for networking and meeting practitioners from different countries.

There are no prerequisites, except to be open to sharing your practice and experiences. The festival is meant as a safe space for the community arts to benefit from learning and growing together.

There are two routes you will choose from:

Workshop/SIC Route for arts practitioners, researchers and producers:

  • Join a Special Interest Circle (SIC) (you will choose 1 out of 3)

Regardless of your chosen route, everyone will attend:

ICAF Hub Singapore is a partnership between ICAF (The Netherlands) and Drama Box (Singapore) to develop and support a global, community arts Hub in Singapore.

While ICAF is international in its approach, it remains euro-centric by virtue of its geographical location and has been seeking suitable partners aligned in its values and principles to bring the festival in the concept of a “hub” to different parts of the world. This collaboration brings the ICAF vision of offering a space for reflection, connection and development of the community arts movement to this part of the world, through Drama Box, who shares in the vision that the arts can make change.

Drama Box has collaborated with ICAF in the past and during the covid period when physical meetings were not possible.
